UK VAT DDP Customs Clearance Policy

1. Policy Objective

This policy explains how Value Added Tax (VAT) and customs clearance are handled for orders delivered to the United Kingdom. It is intended to clarify tax responsibilities, import procedures, and customer obligations in compliance with UK regulations and Google Merchant Center requirements.

2. Scope of Application

This policy applies to physical goods shipped to UK delivery addresses. It does not apply to digital products or services.

VAT and customs handling may vary depending on the shipping method selected and the information displayed at checkout.

3. Understanding UK VAT on Imported Goods

UK VAT may be applicable to imported goods in accordance with UK tax law. VAT treatment depends on factors including the nature of the goods, shipment value, and import structure.

Where VAT is required, it will be handled in one of the following ways:

  • VAT included at checkout

  • VAT collected by customs authorities upon import

The applicable method will be clearly indicated during the checkout process.

4. Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) Shipments

For certain orders, shipments may be sent under Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) terms.

Under DDP arrangements:

  • Import VAT and applicable duties are prepaid on behalf of the customer

  • Customs clearance is arranged by the shipping partner

  • No additional import charges are normally required from the customer upon delivery

DDP availability depends on destination, product type, and logistics feasibility.

5. Non-DDP (DAP/DDU) Shipments

Where DDP is not offered or selected, shipments may be sent under non-prepaid import terms.

In such cases:

  • Import VAT, customs duties, or handling fees may be charged by UK customs or the carrier

  • These charges are the responsibility of the customer

  • Delivery may be delayed until such charges are paid

Failure to pay required charges may result in delivery refusal, return, or disposal of the goods.

6. Customs Clearance Process

Customs clearance is conducted by UK authorities or appointed logistics agents. Clearance timelines are determined by customs and are outside our direct control.

We are not responsible for delays caused by customs inspections, documentation checks, or regulatory actions.

7. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate delivery and contact information

  • Responding promptly to customs or carrier requests

  • Paying applicable import charges where DDP is not applied

Incorrect or incomplete information may lead to clearance delays or failed delivery.

8. Refused or Unclaimed Shipments

If a shipment is refused or unclaimed due to unpaid import charges or lack of response, the order may be returned or disposed of by customs.

Any resulting costs may be deducted from a refundable amount, where applicable.

9. Relationship to Other Policies

This policy should be read together with the Shipping Policy, Refund Policy, and Terms of Service. VAT and customs treatment does not alter statutory consumer rights under UK law.

10. Policy Updates

This VAT & DDP Customs Clearance Policy may be updated periodically to reflect regulatory or operational changes. The version published at the time of order placement applies.
